Understanding Data compliance rules

At Tech1M, we take data privacy seriously for both employers and job seekers. If you're hiring through our platform, it’s important you understand how data compliance works and what’s expected of you.
Here’s what you need to know 👇

What is Data Compliance?

Data compliance means following the rules around how you collect, use, and store personal information, especially when it comes to candidate data. These rules are there to protect people’s privacy and give them control over their information.
We follow key global data laws like:
  • GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) – for anyone hiring or interacting with candidates in the UK/EU
  • CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) – if you work with US-based candidates
  • Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) – for hiring in Nigeria
  • And other local regulations, depending on where your talent is based

What This Means for You as an Employer

When you use Tech1M to hire, you're also responsible for handling candidate data responsibly. Here's what you should always do:
  • Only access what you need. Don't store or download candidate data you don’t intend to use.
  • Avoid exporting sensitive data. Tech1M gives you everything within the platform. Keep hiring information and notes inside the dashboard.
  • Don’t share profiles outside the platform unless you have permission from the candidate.
  • Respect deletion requests. If a candidate asks to remove their data, Tech1M will handle it, but don't store it elsewhere.
  • Keep your team informed. Make sure everyone on your hiring team knows the basics of privacy and compliance.

 What Tech1M Handles for You

We’ve built the platform to help you stay compliant by default.
  • End-to-end data encryption
  • Consent-based candidate tracking
  • Automatic data expiry and cleanup
  • Secure storage with role-based access
  • Audit trails for accountability
We also ask job seekers to agree to our privacy policy and consent terms before they apply, so you're already covered from day one.

Best Practices for Staying Compliant

  • Keep everything on the platform
  • Use Tech1M tools instead of external apps (e.g., avoid using spreadsheets for CVs)
  • Don’t ask for unnecessary personal information during screening or interviews
  • Keep your job descriptions neutral and inclusive
  • Train your team on data privacy basics

What Happens if There’s a Breach?

If we ever detect unusual access or a data risk, we’ll alert you immediately and take action. You can also report a concern directly through your dashboard or email support@tech1m.com.
